Sustainable energy production is of increasing international importance and we are expanding our solutions in this area. One of the best ways we can positively impact the environment is by helping our customers with their clean energy projects. This issue introduces our renewable energy capabilities and highlights some of the projects where we are helping to make clean energy a reality.

We are reducing our own environmental impact through a new initiative. The Carbon Footprint Pilot Programme is measuring the carbon footprint across a range of our businesses. We are identifying areas with the largest impact and developing actions for improvement.

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Cinzia De Santis as our new Group head of HSE. Cinzia brings a wealth of experience that will help us meet new challenges and I am delighted to welcome her on board.

We have also expanded our commitment to supporting education in the communities in which we work. Several of our companies have formed alliances with universities to support the next generation of employees and the future sustainability of the industry. Click here to read more about this.

We know 2009 will continue to be a challenging year, but believe our differentiated capabilities help to position us well. We remain committed to helping our customers meet their challenges and continue to focus our efforts on the effective delivery and execution of all our projects.
