Welcome to the first quarter issue of Wood News
2008 was a record year for Wood Group, despite the turbulence in the economy and the looming fears of a global recession. Our world-class businesses have strengthened their market-leading positions. We have a significant amount of work under longterm contracts with major international operators, national oil companies and power companies throughout the world. We will continue to help our clients meet the challenges that lie ahead and to deliver value-adding services and products.

As we expand our international reach it is important, now more than ever, to continue to build upon our strong and well-established reputation for maintaining high standards of business behavior. On this page an excerpt from the Group’s Business Ethics Policy reinforces the importance of conducting business ethically throughout our organization.
We intend to continue to focus our attention on strengthening our health, safety and environmental (HSE) activities. This issue introduces Frontline Focus, an initiative that will help direct management time, energy and effort toward making a positive difference to HSE performance at the frontline of our operations. We want to share best practices across the Group and Frontline Focus will assist us in doing that. You can read more about the program on the next page.
Over the last few years the industry has made great strides in oil production with the development of floating production, storage and offloading vessels (FPSOs). We have been involved in over 50-percent of the FPSOs currently operating around the world. Inside you can read more about the services we have provided inside.
This will undoubtedly be a challenging year for the energy industry. We will maintain our focus on supporting our clients’ operations and longer term capital projects, and look forward to continuing to deliver outstanding service.
