Software technology enhances safety management programme
Deepwater Services Inc. (DSI) is our company providing facilities commissioning support for offshore projects such as Independence Hub in the Gulf of Mexico and Bonga in Nigeria. Responsible for proving the integrity of all systems for operators before each facility starts up production, DSI has developed a customised Permit-to-Work* Management System (PTWMS) to improve its management of HSE.
Using relational database technology, DSI can cross-reference its personnel list, individual certifications and qualifications plus detailed work permit and work authorization data. This information, together with details of punch lists, work status and isolation certificate details, allows the system to flag up activities that represent an HSE concern and automatically identifies the activity as a priority action item.
DSI uses PTWMS with project-specific Permit-to-Work processes to increase the accuracy of information DSI needs to analyse current or future work. Information generated from the system enhances decision making, accelerates work-flow and helps us achieve the safe execution of all activities including high risk and non-routine jobs that may be running concurrently.
